Bộ phim Cung tâm kế dài 30 tập, bối
cảnh xảy ra vào đời nhà Đường (Trung Quốc), nhân vật chính trong phim
là Lưu Tam Hảo (Xa Thi Mạn đóng), một cung nữ “tốt từ đầu xuống chân”.
Lúc bấy giờ, hậu cung có bốn Thượng cung (Mễ Tuyết, Ngũ Vịnh Vy, Quan
Cúc Anh và Huệ Anh Hồng đóng) nắm toàn quyền lực và cả bốn đều muốn leo
lên vị trí cao hơn nên ra sức tranh giành, dùng mọi thủ đoạn đe hèn nhất để triệt hạ nhau.
Không chịu nổi sự đè nén của tứ Thượng cung, cung nữ Diêu Kim Linh
(Dương Di đóng), bạn thân của Lưu Tâm Hảo đã dùng nhan sắc quyến rũ
hoàng thượng (Trần Hào đóng), may mắn được phong Quý phi, bắt đầu kế
hoạch trả thù. Vì cùng đem lòng yêu chàng thị vệ Cao Hiển Dương (Trịnh
Gia Dĩnh đóng) nên sau khi đổi đời, Diêu Kim Linh quay ngược lại hãm hại
cô bạn kim lan Lưu Tâm Hảo.
